Diagnose a ballistic curve that looks wrong

Confirm the active rifle, ammunition or lot, projectile, and profile name. Confirm distance, angle, velocity, pressure, and sight-height units. Confirm zero distance and that the rifle still holds its mechanical zero. Confirm muzzle velocity belongs to the current ammunition and barrel configuration. Confirm the coefficient is paired with the correct G1 or G7 model. Confirm density altitude or station pressure authority, temperature, humidity, and update time. Confirm target distances and compare more than one solution row.

Use the shape of the error. A constant-looking offset suggests a different investigation than a difference that grows with distance. Preserve the original inputs and observations while you isolate the cause.

Change one authority at a time. Do not simultaneously alter zero, velocity, coefficient, and atmosphere until the rows look familiar. That destroys the evidence needed to identify the cause.

If Only one row looks wrong.: Check that target's distance and identity first. A single bad row is weaker evidence for changing a whole profile than a repeated trend across distances.

If Every row changed after an environmental update.: Confirm which atmosphere source became authoritative and whether the workspace accepted a new solve. Compare source, timestamp, and density-altitude or station-pressure semantics.

Do not tune by random adjustment. Changing several values until one target agrees destroys the diagnostic trail and can make the rest of the curve less trustworthy.
