Recognize saved, solved, accepted, stale, and verified data

FreeDOPE deliberately treats data persistence, calculation, acceptance, synchronization, and field truth as different states. That separation keeps an incomplete edit or failed refresh from silently replacing a solution you already reviewed.

Saved locally means the input or workspace revision is durable on this device. Solved means the engine produced rows from a specific profile, environment, wind call, and card. Accepted means that completed solve became the active snapshot; an older accepted snapshot can remain visible while recalculation is in progress. Stale means an input changed after the accepted snapshot was created. The visible rows may still be useful as a recoverable reference, but they do not represent the newest inputs. Synchronized means a remote copy has caught up. It does not make the ballistic inputs correct. Verified means you compared the solution with trustworthy observations from the actual rifle and ammunition.

A practical checkpoint. After editing a profile, save it, recalculate, confirm the new profile and conditions in the workspace summary, then compare representative distances with known data. Each step answers a different question.

If The profile changed but the displayed calls still look old.: Read the workspace revision and state. The previous accepted snapshot remains active until recalculation completes. Do not assume a saved input automatically replaced the current solution.

Stop before field use when identity is uncertain. Do not use the call when you cannot identify the profile, environment, wind, target, units, or accepted-snapshot state behind it.
