Validate a ballistic profile at multiple distances

Use a distance where curve differences are visible but target distance, conditions, and observation quality remain trustworthy. Judge the pattern, not one impact. Look for a consistent trend across distances. Repeated observations are more useful than tuning to an isolated shot or uncertain target. Preserve confidence and provenance. Record how each observation was established and what could have influenced it. Keep the original profile revision so later changes can be evaluated instead of remembered.
What success looks like. The profile follows known data across the range you intend to use, and any remaining difference is explainable by observation uncertainty rather than a growing systematic trend.
If The profile agrees at one distance but separates progressively at others.: Re-check target distances, units, muzzle velocity, drag model and coefficient, and environmental authority. Do not repair a curve problem by moving the zero until the source of the trend is understood.
Stop when the observation is not trustworthy. Do not tune from an uncertain target distance, unstable zero, changing ammunition, unrecorded conditions, or a single ambiguous impact.
